Chen-Yu Tsuei /崔珍瑜 –
Ms. Tsuei began her dance training at the age of five and has won
many national dance competitions in her country. At the age of 16,
she was a member of Kaohsiung Contemporary Dance Company of Taiwan.
In 1989, She came to the United States with a special audition as a
scholarship student and continued her dance training at The
Juilliard School, The Boston Conservatory, Drexel University,
Jacob's Pillow and The Paris Opera Ballet School for teaching
program etc. In 1990, she won the First Prize of Chinese-American
Performing Arts Competition. Ms. Tsuei has received her BFA Degree
from The Juilliard School and her M S Degree in Arts Administration
from Drexel University. Ms. Tsuei's professional experience include
various cross cultural performances with The Lincoln Center program,
the First Asian Contemporary Dance Festival, Dance Around world,
Guest Artist at the Visual/Media Center at MIT, the Washington
Ballet and DePass Dance Company, National Cathedral at Washington
DC, instructors at the Boston Conservatory, DePass Dance Co., Berks
Ballet Theater, Omega Dance Co, Columbia University, Long Island
University, Colorado State University, Sacred Dance Festival at the
Connecticut College, Light of Life Performing Arts and Central
Pennsylvania Chinese Association. During the year of 1996-2001 she
was the Artistic Director of Danse Nova in Kaohsiung, Taiwan R.O.C.
Currently, Ms. Tsuei is the President of Chinese Cultural and Arts
Institute.
Diana Meng /侯筱慶
–Mrs. Meng was born in Mainland China and grew up in Taiwan. She received her BA from Chinese Culture University in Taiwan in 1969 and her Master of Arts from West Virginia University in 1971. More than thirty years ago, she and her husband Peter moved to Harrisburg. She worked for a number of years as a housewife to raise their two children, Raymond and Cindy. Her teaching experiences include Chinese Language class for the Central Pennsylvania Chinese Association and art Classes as a substitute teacher for the East Pennsboro School District. Additionally, she taught Chinese painting and calligraphy at the local library and schools. Presently, Mrs. Meng is a Business Analyst at the Capital Blue Cross and teaches Chinese painting and calligraphy at the Chinese Cultural & Arts Institute since year 2004. In her spare time, she enjoys the company of her three grandchildren, Ashley, Emily and Hannah.
Lizhu Zhong /鐘麗珠 –
Ms. Zhong is a full-time librarian with a master degree of Modern
Chinese Literature and a master of Library and Information Science.
Her teaching experiences include three years as a college teacher in
her native country of China. She also has been a volunteer teacher
of the Little Star Chinese Language School for four years.
Currently, she teaches adult conversational Chinese language at
Chinese Cultural & Arts Institute since year 2005.
Ya-Yun Cheng /鄭雅云 -
A native of Taiwan, Ms. Cheng has received her master degree of
science in biology and chemistry. In addition to her academic
achievements, Ms Cheng also has an intense interest in teaching and
has many years of experience teaching children in science, music and
language. Currently, she is on CCAI’s teaching staff, and is helping
instruct children’s Chinese language class and Summer Cultural Camp
since the year 2005.
Wei-Yang Andy Lin /林維洋 –
Mr. Lin was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and currently received the
BFA Degree from the Juilliard School. He started his piano and
violin lessons at the age of six. And at age ten, he started his
viola and Erh-Hu lessons. He came to U.S. in 1997 to attend
Idyllwild Arts Academy to study with Donald McInnes. He has won
numerous competitions including Tainan County and City competitions,
Kaohsiung City Gun-Du-Bae Competition, Taiwanese National Viola
Competition, and the Idyllwild Concerto Competition. Mr. Lin has
been a member of the LDX String Quartet, appearing on NPR’s “From
the Top” radio broadcast; Kafka Piano Quintet, appearing at New
York’s Taiwan Center and New Tang Television; and the Rimbaud String
Quartet, with whom he was awarded a fellowship to attend the Aspen
Music Festival. Mr. Lin has served as a principle violist in the
Idyllwild Arts Chamber Orchestra, Ureuk Symphony, and the Bethany
Church Chamber Orchestra. He has also had the privilege to perform
for the President of the United States, Bill Clinton and the
President of Taiwan, Ten-Hui Lee. In past years, He also has
performed in Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall,
Juilliard Paul Hall and Morse Hall, Juilliard Theater, Merkin Hall,
Kennedy Center in Washington D. C., Whitaker Center in Pennsylvania,
CUNY Graduate Center, Greenfield Hall in Manhattan, Mannes Concert
Hall, Los Angeles Music Center, New York Taiwan Center, Queens
College Concert Hall, etc. He has been a part of several Music
Festivals, which includes Bowdoin Summer Festival, Aspen Summer
Music Festival and Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara.
Throughout his musical study, he has studied chamber music with Earl
Carlyss, Warren Jones, Cathleen Winkler, Timothy Eddy, Jerome
Lowenthal, Joel Sachs, Arnold Steinhardt, Andre Emelianoff, and
Seymour Lipkin, and has studied solo with Donald McInnes, Roger
Myers, Victoria Chang, John Graham, Michael Tree, and currently with
Toby Appel at the Juilliard School. As an Erh-Hu player, Mr. Lin has
won the Tainan County Competition and the Taiwanese National
Competition. During his studies in the States, he has been invited
to play Erh-Hu for numerous occasions, including performance at the
New York Taiwan Center, Chinese Cultural and Arts Institute (CCAI)’s
“Spring Celebration” in Harrisburg, Passport to Taiwan in NY, HACC
International Globe Festival, Juilliard International Festival, and
others. He is currently teaching Erh-Hu at the CCAI. And in this
fall, he will continue to study the music for his the master program
at the Juilliard School.
Charles Schulz –
Mr. Schulz is a Certified Personal trainer who has been teaching fitness for over 20 years. He holds five certification in-group fitness instruction from the American Aerobics Association International / International Sports Meedicine Association. Chuck earned two Yoga certificates from the nationally renown instructor John DeMinico and has attended Yoga and Tai Chi sessions led by national fitness professionals David Dorian Ross, Scott Cole and Petra Kollber to name only a few.
